how to tone down busy granite

It's hard to tell from the photo if it would work but I feel like you could totally change the feel by painting the cabinets black and distressing the paint a little. The walls were originally painted a tan-ish color before we bought it, but the builder was told the dark walls would not sell (which we liked better), so the entire house was repainted inside with this very pale grey-blue color that just blends everything into one blah color.
